By logging into Wireless@NIE, you agree to adhere unconditionally to the rules set out in the Usage Guidelines and ICT Security Policy of National Institute of Education.
Wireless@NIE is a free service for all the staff and eligible students of National Institute of Education. All users of the wireless facilities are required to understand what are the DOs and DON'Ts as all of us have the responsibility to protect the integrity of our resources so that we will experience seamless and disruption-free services.
DOs:
- Respect the resources of the Institute and that of other wireless users.
- Comply with all licensing terms and conditions regulating the use of any material, including software.
- Protect your personal computer (PC), notebook or personal digital assistant (PDA) with commercially proven anti-virus software.
- Update your operating system and wireless applications regularly with latest security fixes from the software providers.
- Prevent leakage of your private information or data transactions by using encryption or, at least, make sure the website which performs the transaction is secured and encrypted via SSL (Secure Sockets Layer e.g. https://).
- Use strong password combinations with at least 8 alphanumeric characters without any leading or trailing blanks, and change your password regularly.
DON'Ts:
- Do not setup your own wireless access points within NIE campus.
- Do not violate the privacy of other wireless users.
- Do not copy, share or misuse copyrighted material.
- Do not use the given resources to harass other users or disrupt their usage.
- Do not divulge your password to anyone, not even your best friend, as you are responsible for all the actions carried out by your user ID.
- Do not write or display your password anywhere.
- Do not open dubious email attachments without any protection from an updated anti-virus software.
