Step 1: Getting Information
NIE Staff and Trainee Teachers, on their own initiatives, should find out the wireless configuration of any free wireless service of other institutions first.
Fortunately, NIE staff and trainee teachers can access NTU wireless network using the exchange account and campus network account respectively. Please visit NTU website for information on their wireless service.
Step 2: Getting Started
After getting the wireless access, start up your Internet Browser (e.g. Internet Explorer). Go to this URL link: http://vpn.nie.edu.sg and log in using your NIE campus network account (for Trainee Teachers) or using your email account (for NIE Staff).
This is the login page that you should see. Remember to select the correct Domain.
Domain: “NIE Staff” for NIE staff.
Domain: “NIE Student” for NIE Trainee Teachers.
Step 3: Surfing Web
All web surfing capabilities are built into this Remote Access Portal. You can also access Intranet resources through this portal. If your desired website is not available from the list below, you may enter the URL into the text box beside the ‘Browse’ button.
Step 4: Return To Portal
In every web page that you visit through this portal, there is a tool bar (see below).
This tool bar has 3 functions represented by 3 icons:
means re-position this tool bar.
means return to the main page of the portal.
means sign off from the portal immediately.
Step 5: Signing Off
Please remember to sign off the portal once you have completed your work. You can find the ‘Sign Out’ link on the main page of the portal.
